Hey everyone! I’m striving to become a pharmacist not only working behind the counter, but also helping those on the other side of the counter with concerns they may have or if they have any questions regarding medications. Growing up in North Las Vegas showed me how large the Spanish speaking community can be. I love showing Spanish only speakers that someone cares and that someone understands them. Working at Macy's on the Strip, where a great majority of my customers are Spanish speakers, deepened my love of helping others by making connections and informing them on what we have so they can get exactly what they are looking for. Seeing customers leave happier than when they came in makes my day. As a recovering procrastination addict, I am able to have more time to myself. I am not a picky eater so I enjoy eating all kinds of food. Being the son of a chef father and a cook mother definitely expanded my taste palette. After finishing a delicious meal I alter clothing for myself and others so that they have a better style to them. Is your shirt too wide? I can make it into a slim fit shirt. Do your pants need hemming? I can fix that. You want to make your jeans into skinny jeans? Challenge accepted.

Presidents

Hey! I am so thrilled to be an APHP president for 2014-2015. I am in my final year of my dual baccalaureate in Biology and Psychology. I will be applying to medical school next year and its terrifying. I was born in Florida but raised in Vegas and hope to return to Florida for med school. I work part-time as a scribe and love my job a little too much (come ask me about it, I'll talk your ear off!) In my non-academic life, I am married. I love reading just about anything with words. I also hope to be a makeup artist in my next life. If you see me around, PLEASE come up and introduce yourself. I hope to get to know each and everyone one of you this year!

Vice Presidents

Clara Liu

Hello everyone! My name is Clara and I will be your Vice President this year! APHP has really shaped my college life because I met a lot of my friends through here, built my leadership skills, and became more well rounded; I can guarentee you that it'll do the same for you. Of course, it all depends on how much you decide to put into it. On a more personal note, I am a biology major, pre-professional (Like everyone else) and into my junior year of college. I've been through it all (ochem, ochem... and ochem some more) so I know the struggle. Please feel free to ask me for help since I've been through these classes. Anyways, my goal is to go to medical school and become a trauma surgeon as well as conduct research with 3D printers. Right now, I am doing research with HIV, studying for the MCAT, UTA for Biol 197 (Ask away freshmen!), and volunteered at UMC in the ER. On the sidelines of my academics, my hobbies are food seeking, yoga, archery (ameteur), and writing. If you do any of those or have an interest, please feel free to approach me! I swear I'm nice!

Meghan Morales

I have been a member of APHP since Spring 2013. I was immediately greeted with warm welcomes and though I have only been a member for just over a year, I love the sense of family and support that I get from APHP. I am currently majoring in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology. I hope to go on to higher education to ultimately become a physician assistant who works with athletes. APHP is a great way for students to learn all of the requirements for their desired school and will help you as much as they can to get there. I was very lucky to hold a chair on the physician shadowing committee last year and I am more determined than ever to contribute to making this club succeed.

Secretary

I was born in Macau, China, but I've been living in the United States since I was very young. I am currently majoring in Pre-Professional Biology, and am considering a minor in Psychology. When I'm not busy with academic studies, I enjoy reading up on the latest technological trends and playing video games.

Being a part of APHP has been a positive experience. I've been able to meet so many new people who share common interests and goals, as well as become part of opportunities that not only help serve the community, but broaden our own horizons as well. I hope that as an officer in APHP, we can strive to give our members that, and much more.

If you bump into me on campus, feel free to say hi! I will try my best to help anyone who has a problem and wants to discuss it. If you just want to shoot the breeze, I am available for that as well!

Hon Wai Lam

Treasurer

Majoring in biology and minoring in anthropology, I am currently a senior and proud to finally step-up to become an APHP officer (especially the one handling the money). Being a part of APHP has given me endless resources of networking academically and professionally. Furthermore, it has opened up the pearly white gates to my entire fellow, brilliant and awesome, biology nerds! As a Vegas native, I am a Rancho Ram alumnus of the medical academy who proudly received the senior superlative for Most Spirited Ram (a.k.a. obnoxious spectator louder than the entire cheer squad). I am a Filipina who is utterly infatuated with Hispanic food (some say I was born in the wrong ethnicity) and loves taking in new cultures. Growing up, I practiced classical singing and continue to do so in areas of great acoustics (especially public restrooms).  Though I love listening to coloratura arias, Broadway and Disney show tunes, I also appreciate all genres of music – literally. I am an enthusiast of makeup artistry, say “like” too often for my own good, and make several movie references which nobody understands (primarily Mean Girls, Step Brothers, White Chicks, Zoolander, The Hot Chick). My voice and laughter resonates greatly in all open spaces, so if you hear me coming, say hello! My wit, spunk, awkward sarcasm, and enthusiasm generally appeals to others resulting in me becoming their next BFF. I hope to get acquainted with every member of APHP and anticipate for this next school year to be phenomenal.

Kathryn (Kat) Sharmai

I am majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Psychology. I think that helping the patients not only physically but emotionally as well goes a long way. I hope to one day be a physical therapist. It'd be really cool if I get to be a physical therapist for the New England Patriots but I can settle for having my own practice here in Vegas. If you need to talk to someone I am there for you! I love to play sports and video/computer games so if it's easier for you to connect with me this way hit me up! Don't worry, neither my dog nor I bite.

Darien Holland

I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. I lived in Atlanta, GA for 4 years and graduated high school in Georgia. In high school I played football, wrestled, and ran track and field. These are still things I enjoy doing today. Academically, I am pre dental, and my favorite class is Microbiology, and least favorite subject is Math. In the future I hope to eventually start my own practice somewhere back towards the Northeast and I also want to live overseas and raise pit bulls. If I was not in College I would be on Whale Wars in Antarctica fighting the whalers; or just working at Wal-Mart. If you ever see me around campus please don't be afraid to stop me and say, "Hello". I enjoy meeting new people and having new experiences. Peace!

Communications Director

I'm a junior majoring in Biology, working to eventually become one of those doctor people who specializes in the treatment of little kids. When I'm not eating, sleeping, or studying, you can find me playing guitar, singing obnoxiously, or watching cartoons. Imagine anything a 12 year old boy would like and that's probably something I, too, enjoy. Super into superheroes, zombies (Walking Dead!), Game of Thrones, and a bunch of other nerdy things. Feel free to talk to me about anything related to the aforementioned topics. I'm super excited to be one of your officers this year and I hope to meet as many of you as I can!

Gabbie Quizon

Humanitarian Committee

Taylor Voss

Hello APHP members! My name is Tay, and I am majoring in microbiology. I plan on going to pharmacy school after I graduate from UNLV. During the semester, I basically live on the 5th floor of the library, but I spend my free time doing fine art portrait photography and yoga! I'm super excited to meet all of you, and I know we are going to have a great year!

Angela dela Cruz

I am currently a 3rd year student working towards a Biology major with Pre-Professional concentration because I dream to become a physician one day. Besides having school take over my life and consuming massive amounts of caffeine to get me through studying, some of the things I like to do are hanging out with my friends, travel, go to concerts/raves, go on food adventures, and listening to music (preferably EDM). I'm a really outgoing and loud person. I can be VERY RANDOM too (beware). I'm also very open to trying out new things and meeting new people!

Fundraising Committee

Juriza Mendoza

Hello beautiful people! My name is Juriza and I am your fundraising committee chair! This will be my third year in APHP and my second year being an officer. I am a biology major planning on attending pharmacy school after graduation in the next two years. I am also an officer of ths Rebel Events Board and work in the Student Union so I am very involved on campus and I love it! If we see each other around campus, let's chat! I don't bite.

Personal Fun & Fitness

Francisco (Cisco) Servin

I was born and raised here in Las Vegas, and speak fluent Spanish. I am an only child due to my mother suffering both a miscarriage and a still birth, which is why I hope to some day be a Pediatric Cardiothoracic Surgeon, specializing in Fetal Surgery. It’s a tribute to my younger brother and sister.Other than studying until my eyes turn purple, I have a pretty fun life outside of the library. My passion has been music since I was a kid, and that made me into a HUGE band geek in Middle and High School. I play the Saxophone, Tuba, Drumset, Piano, and pretty much any instrument you’ve seen in the movie Drumline, except that I actually play the instruments with good technique. Get at me Nick Cannon! I teach the Marching Arts (Marching Band and Drumline) at various high schools across the county. I’ve been working on producing simple EDM tracks here and there, except that the equipment is expensive and takes a lot of time to master so it has been a slow process. Up until my Junior year of High School, I was always a chunky boy, but was motivated to change that and got into different sports and got in pretty good shape. College hit, and as many of us, I gained a good amount of weight again. I discovered the art of Fitness and Bodybuilding, got into the best shape of my life, and have been addicted ever since! I am very excited to work with many other members of the club on their fitness, not just to help them look good, but for health and future longevity as well.  Let’s go!

Tyler Voss

I'm currently heading into my senior year working on a degree in preprofessional Biology with the ultimate goal of attending medical school!  I am so excited to be one of your officers and get to know all of you! I've met some of my closest friends here in APHP and I know all of our new members will do the same. Besides studying (or pretending to while procrastinating) I love to go to the gym, play sports, watch movies, and meet people. I look forward to an excellent year with you all!

Hosting

Aaron Daza

As an officer, more specifically as Hosting officer, I hope to continue all the fun events for you guys this year! Here’s a little bit about me: I was born in Illinois and I moved to Las Vegas in 2009. I am currently a biochem major working towards pursuing a career in pharmacy. I really enjoy playing the piano and singing, so I’m looking forward to the Karaoke events and hearing all your beautiful voices! I also enjoy cooking and baking. Also, Gursharan and I will most likely be at the gym on Fridays for our “Fitness Fridays,” so definitely come and join us! I am looking forward to meeting everyone and having an AMAZING year! Don’t be shy to say Hi or wave when you see me around campus, I promise I won’t bite!

Gursharan Narwal

I am a pre-professional biology major and want to go to medical school to become a radiologist. Also, I am a part of the Honors College. I love volunteering, so if I’m not at an APHP event, you’ll be sure to find me at the animal shelter! I absolutely love animals and I’m a vegetarian. I have a sassy yet loving cat named Munchie. In my free time, I like to do a little of everything which includes reading, watching TV, and playing video games (especially Animal Crossing and Just Dance). If you need a gym buddy, you’re more than welcome to join Aaron and me at the SRWC on Fridays! I'd love to meet as many members as I can, so I hope to see everyone at the social events!
